Traits/Details
Nov. 24th, 2017 08:22 pm- Korekiyo can come off as somewhat of an aloof person, despite the fact that he's more than capable of creating bonds and making friends (and even values his friends quite a bit).
- This is, at least in part, because of his sometimes unnerving calmness. Even in the worst situations, he tends to be able to keep a level head thanks to his studying of humanity; furthermore, he believes the best way to approach problems is through calm logic and rationality, rather than letting one's emotions get control over them.
- Despite this, he can get very excited about certain topics (some of them sex-related) and gets very upset when someone messes with artifacts carelessly as they can be so easily destroyed. He does still run as a "calm anger" type of person, though, which makes his threats to those who try to hurt priceless artifacts even creepier.
- He also tends to be quite a modest person, using "boku" in reference to himself, which fits well with his polite nature.
- Korekiyo is fairly intelligent and is very good at studying, whether for school or just general information. This comes from his talent -- being the SHSL Anthropologist means he has to study cultures and people very intently, so that skill has bled over into the rest of his life.
- He sometimes tends to launch into anthropology lectures or stories, occasionally without being prompted, though he can be derailed if people aren't listening or interrupt him (though that does irritate him).
- He's immensely interested in anything to do with humanity, regardless of whether or not he agrees with -- or even likes -- what the topic is, as he believes that everything about people makes up the tapestry of "the beauty of humanity", whether good or bad. Beauty comes from hardship, from good and evil, from every action a person takes. It may be a twisted beauty, but it's a beauty none the less, and it deeply fascinates him.
- He tends to speak his thoughts openly, which sometimes leads to rather unnerving -- or outright creepy -- remarks from him, such as idly noting Gonta could crush a child's skull or wondering why others have an issue with killing since it's simply a natural impulse of humanity, only made "wrong" by laws.
- Despite the red flags he gives, Korekiyo has actually very little interest in killing. He prefers to observe people, and it's hard to really observe a corpse and get anything meaningful out of it.
- He also doesn't seem to care what others think of him. He is how he is, and that's what they get. If they want to leave it and avoid him, he understands perfectly and feels no animosity towards them for that. He does, however, crave companionship the same as anyone else, and those that choose to take it are met with a genuine fondness from him, despite how he might seem.
- He has an obsession with keeping his mask on that even Korekiyo can't explain. He isn't sure why he prefers it, just that it's far more comforting to him than having it off.
- Sexuality-wise, Korekiyo appears to be pansexual, finding sex in general something of a curiosity and not seeing much different between men or women on that front. However, because he's severely sadomasochistic, his preferences tend to turn people off, especially since he doesn't seem to care much about his own consent.
- Despite his general disinterest in killing, Korekiyo has a dark secret -- that of a serial killer. Though he's attracted to all genders, something in him is severely messed up when it comes to women or female-presenting people that he gets too close to. If he becomes too excited with them, his sadism skyrockets out of control, which inevitably leads him to killing his now-former partner. He doesn't seem to feel any guilt over these actions, either, viewing it as nothing more than a display of true feelings. Surprisingly, this doesn't extend to men, no matter how excited he seems to get, though he has caused severe wounds in the pursuit of pleasure with one before.
